Internal Family Systems Therapy in Vermont:
Charity Eugair, MA
Alongside my art-based business, I’m also an Internal Family Systems (IFS) therapist offering individual psychotherapy to adults in Vermont for anxiety, depression, trauma, and relationship challenges.
I believe that our struggles can be our teachers when we approach them the right way. However, most of what we're taught about our struggles actually keeps us stuck. Our culture too often equates struggle with failure and shame, making change harder than it has to be.
This is a place where we slow down, interrupt that assumption, apply curiosity and explore what's actually happening beneath the surface. My clients are routinely amazed by what they find.
My approach is collaborative, gentle, and insight-oriented, helping you understand what's "in the way" through a new lens, while learning to meet yourself, the world and your struggles, very differently.
Internal Family Systems Therapy
All Parts are Welcome...
My work is rooted in the Internal Family Systems (IFS) model, which sees each of use as made of a core Self, but also many inner parts - some which try to protect us in well-intended but disruptive ways. IFS views most struggles as an overage of protection by parts who have become too extreme, and transforms this - not by force but by negotiation.
IFS goes beyond talk therapy to discover what we can't see from the surface, or in a typical therapy conversation. When we engage in inner journeying, or "going inside" as we sometimes call it, I am your co-pilot. I bring the map, the strategy and the safety manual, but you're behind the wheel. I will guide you through a process to safely learn what is driving your struggles, what is needed to shift them, and to obtain whole-system permission to do so.
This inner work is done in a respectful and disarming way. We often encounter barriers, protections and things that initially seem unapproachable. However, a common IFS expression is, "If it's IN the way, it IS the way". Using the tools of IFS, we befriend and negotiate with what we find - instead of pushing past, shaming or dismissing it.
My clients often experience significant relief quickly doing IFS work. Even if deeper goals or changes take time, experiencing the rapid inner reconnection to Self that IFS brings - often from even just one session - offers spaciousness, energy and a renewed sense of hope in what's possible.

Expressive Arts Therapy
Art is a Way of Knowing...
While all my work rests on a foundation of Internal Family Systems, I interweave creative process as a powerful wayto express and reflect on what we find throughout your journey.
Expressive Arts Therapy offers a way to bring what’s inside into form, giving shape to emotion, insight, and experience that may be hard to express in words. Through processes like journaling, collage, textile work, stitching, botanical art, and cyanotype, you'll learn to externalize your inner landscape and see it with new clarity and compassion.
I’ve led graduate-level workshops in expressive arts, developed original modalities, and presented at the Creative Therapies Summit in New York. My work is grounded in the belief that creativity is not a "talent", but a natural quality of Self that we all possess.
If you're interested in integrating creative process into your therapy, or just curious, my work may be a good fit for you.
I also offer Women's Circles, Workshops and Retreats through my art-based business, Perennial Heart:
